Precision bar-turning in France: UND expertise

Precision bar-turning in Besançon: UND expertise

Precision turning is a bit like haute couture, but for metal parts. At UND, we have the expertise to manufacture so-called complex, small-sized parts with great precision. This level of technical expertise and quality is sought after by companies innovating in the medical, aerospace, aeronautics, or connectivity industries that rely on our services.

Precision turning, our core business

Located in Franois, in the heart of Besançon's microtechnology hub, UND is a key player in the field of precision turning in France. Our expertise is the result of 50 years of experience in this technical field. It allows us to manufacture complex parts in various materials with exceptional precision and quality. This mastery positions us as a preferred partner for demanding sectors such as the luxury industry, connectivity, watchmaking, medical, aeronautics, and aerospace.

Unique expertise for complex parts

At UND, precision turning of complex parts to the micron level is the result of a combination of technical and human factors. It is the synergy of these two elements that enables us to manufacture quality parts in diverse materials such as titanium, stainless steel, plastic, or copper.

A high-performance machinery fleet

Located in Franois, near Besançon, our workshops are equipped with CNC lathes capable of machining complex parts with micrometric precision. These machines, suitable for small, medium, or large series production, can work on diameters ranging from 0.3 to 51 mm.
We also use cam-operated lathes to machine complex parts from material bars with diameters between 0.6 and 10 mm.

Essential human expertise

Our expert turners accurately interpret technical drawings and propose optimized solutions for the production of complex parts in the best interest of the client. Their know-how is a strength for UND. The company employs about one hundred people, the majority of whom are skilled turners.

Their experience and technical skills enable the development of innovative solutions for each project. Continuous training is at the heart of our culture, ensuring sustainable know-how and meeting market requirements at the highest level.

Versatility in processed materials

UND specializes in precision turning of various materials, meeting the diverse needs of its clients. On our five production sites, we machine:

  • Stainless steel and other steels
  • Titanium
  • Brass
  • Copper
  • Plastic and composite materials

Each machined part meets strict quality standards, regardless of the chosen raw material. Indeed, UND is certified to work in markets that require their partners to comply with standards. For instance, the company holds the EN 9100 certification required by the aeronautics and aerospace industries. It also holds the ISO 13485 certification recognized in the medical field. The medical and aerospace sectors impose strict quality criteria.

Enhanced responsiveness thanks to material stock

To respond quickly to urgent client requests, UND maintains a small stock of raw materials. This optimized stock allows us to launch production within very short lead times, a major advantage in maintaining our responsiveness.
